The scariest quote was the one I left off where he called the American people smart because, “after all, they keep re-electing me”. I left it out because this cartoon is meant to illustrate how bat-shit crazy Joe Barton is, not how unimaginably daft his constituents are.
Although, as a commenter on the Huffington Post said in reference to a 2010 HuffPo article about Crazy Joe defending BP after the oil spill: “Hey man, it’s Texas. Home of numerous oil billionaires, corporate corruption, presidential assasinations, and the Bushies.”

We did know about climate change back in the 50′s, as evidenced by this Frank Capra Video on Global Warming. But even though it was a monster of a dog back then, it was still just a harmless little puppy.
Today, well, it’s different. And I don’t know how much I trust the little man controlling that monster of a dog. I think it’s a female dog too, so it’s safe to say climate change is a bitch, a scary three-headed bitch with a taste for blood!

“When Climate Change and Health Care Reform Collide” from 9/15/09 (see revision below this cartoon)
Revision made 3/23/10 after Obama signed the Health Care Reform Bill that, among other things, allows people with preexisting conditions to receive health care.
Sure, it’s a lot less funny, but it’s also a lot less depressing. Of course, this joke is two-sided–Health Care reform and the state of the environment are both being addressed in the cartoon. The Health Care bill was signed today so the preexisting conditions part of the joke is null–but the fact that Mother Nature still needs immediate care is an issue.
Will we “get her taken care of?” And will it be “right away?”…

It’s true! According to the very intelligent folks at CO2isgreen, who have direct ties to Oil and Coal industry big wigs, more CO2 is better for us!
The Oil and Coal industries both have unlimited amounts of money, the bulk of which–I am certain–goes to research and development to make this world a better, cleaner place. So if they start a campaign called CO2isgreen with ads stating well-researched facts such as, “Higher CO2 levels than we have today would help the earth’s ecosystems…” and “more CO2 results in a ‘greener’ earth.” then, doggummit, I believe them (and I’m sure Bill McKibben does as well)!
